A DC infrastructure roadmap
On September 21, 2026, ABB announced Infinitus, a direct-current power portfolio for AI data centers. ABB positions it for facilities built around DC and for hybrid AC/DC designs, with solid-state transformers at the center of the offering.

Scope and deployment timing
The portfolio covers medium-voltage supply, AC-to-DC conversion and power quality, DC distribution, overcurrent protection, and cooling using DC-connected drives and motors. These functions address the electrical path between the incoming supply and the IT equipment, alongside cooling loads.
ABB expects a number of major components to enter production over the next twelve months. The company anticipates the first DC-native facilities using the complete portfolio will be operational within two to three years. That roadmap should be distinguished from the availability of individual products.

LANGOM perspective
For procurement teams, the immediate task is to define the proposed electrical architecture and the equipment boundaries. Ask bidders to show where conversion occurs, how power reaches each rack and which interfaces remain AC. A useful comparison should include the existing facility as well as a proposed new-build design.
Project specifications should request protection coordination, isolation and maintenance procedures, and clear responsibilities for the connections between equipment packages. These questions belong in the design review before individual components are selected. The acceptance plan should identify the operating conditions under which each function will be demonstrated.
Treat efficiency and floor-space benefits as items to validate for the particular design. Ask for the load profile, measurement boundary and redundancy assumptions behind any calculation. A phased procurement plan can separate equipment needed for the current project from components whose introduction depends on a future product roadmap.
