A new production location
Infineon inaugurated a semiconductor backend manufacturing site in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, on 1 October 2026. The company says the facility adds assembly, test and wafer-test capabilities to its production network, supporting applications in automotive systems, industry and energy infrastructure.

Expansion remains phased
The site starts with Module A and is designed to grow to as many as five modules. Infineon reported about 350 employees at opening and expects approximately 1,000 as the first building ramps up. Those figures describe the initial workforce and a future staffing target, respectively.
Infineon describes the greenfield facility as highly automated, with cleanrooms and a digital manufacturing backbone. It presents the investment as geographic diversification that complements expansion of its frontend manufacturing capacity.

LANGOM perspective
For industrial procurement teams, a new manufacturing location is a useful prompt to revisit supply-chain documentation. Buyers should ask which part families and package types are assigned to the site, when those routes are qualified, and how any changes will be communicated. The opening alone does not establish shorter delivery times for a particular order.
Engineering and purchasing should review location changes together. A practical checklist would connect manufacturer notifications with approved part lists, incoming inspection records and customer-specific qualification requirements. Where a project depends on consistent traceability, the relevant evidence is the route used for the ordered components and the documentation supplied with them.
Capacity planning should separate the operating first building from possible later modules. For long-running equipment programmes, that distinction supports more realistic discussions about continuity and future demand. The immediate value of the announcement is a clearer view of Infineon’s manufacturing footprint; commercial commitments still need to be established for the exact device and delivery schedule.
