A new route to design tools

On September 10, 2026, Keysight announced an agreement with the Chips Joint Undertaking to provide electronic design automation software and training through the European Chips Design Platform, or EuroCDP. The initiative targets semiconductor startups and small and medium-sized businesses. EuroCDP published the announcement on September 11.

Technical scope and access

The announced capabilities span RF and microwave circuit design, electromagnetic and harmonic-balance simulation, high-speed digital design, and device modeling correlated with measurement data. Training and design data management are also included, with version control and reuse of intellectual property identified in the release.

EuroCDP describes a phased expansion of its services for organizations in EU member states and countries participating in Chips JU. Its general website still uses development and future-launch language. Teams should therefore confirm eligibility and access to the specific software package before committing a project schedule.

LANGOM perspective

For a small engineering team, evaluating the offer should start with a representative design task. Define the circuit or interconnect to be modeled, the process data required and the measurements that will be used to judge the result. A focused trial gives the team a basis for comparing the proposed workflow with its current tools.

Request the exact software modules and versions, licence duration, computing resources and support arrangements. Establish who maintains the design environment and how project data can be exported at the end of access. Training should match the engineers who will use the software and the project stages they need to complete.

Plan the handoff between simulation, prototype manufacture and laboratory validation. Preserve model versions and test conditions so that later measurements can be compared with the original design assumptions. Software access can support that workflow, but the announcement alone does not establish performance for a particular circuit or replace a project-specific validation plan.
