A shared control path for wireless testing
On September 16, 2026, Rohde & Schwarz announced that Microwave Factory had added CMX500 support to its MATEOS software. The integration connects the radio communication tester with SPEAG’s cSAR3D measurement system to automate specific absorption rate (SAR) testing. The announced configuration covers 5G standalone, 5G non-standalone and LTE devices.

What changes in the measurement workflow
According to the companies, operators can manage the measurement sequence through one interface. Earlier workflows required manual call setup and separate configuration on the CMX500. Rohde & Schwarz describes shorter setup times, but its announcement provides no numerical benchmark for that improvement.
SPEAG separately confirms the CMX500 integration and identifies MATEOS as third-party software. Its cSAR3D documentation also describes remote control from external applications and use in prototype testing and production quality assurance. These are manufacturer descriptions of the supported workflow, rather than independently measured results from this release.

LANGOM perspective
For a laboratory planning an upgrade, the useful comparison is the complete measurement sequence: connecting a device, establishing the radio state, running the selected tests and preserving the results. A single interface can be evaluated against those steps in an acceptance demonstration using a representative device and the radio modes required by the project.
Procurement teams should ask the vendors to identify the necessary instrument options, software versions, licences and calibration scope in one configuration list. Separate the cost of reusing existing equipment from any required hardware or software additions. A demonstration should also show how the system records interrupted measurements and restores a known test state.
For systems integration, agree which identifiers and settings must accompany each result before connecting the workflow to laboratory records. That makes the proposed automation easier to assess against repeatability, traceability and operator workload, without assuming a guaranteed throughput gain.
