1. Define the replacement or new assembly

For a replacement, record the full reference on the existing item and the reference of its mating half. Keep the machine drawing or approved bill of materials with the enquiry. If only a family name is known, state what remains unidentified.

For a new assembly, describe the circuits, installation space, cable and operating environment before selecting components. HARTING presents Han as a system of housings, inserts and accessories; an individual part number does not necessarily identify a complete connector. See the manufacturer’s Han overview.

2. Build the component list

Use this worksheet for each side of the connection. Mark each row as included, separately ordered, not required or awaiting confirmation. The required items depend on the selected design.

One purchasing line per ordering reference
Assembly elementRecord or confirm
Insert or moduleFull reference, contact arrangement, termination and position in the assembly.
ContactsWhether supplied with the insert; otherwise the reference and quantity for each required contact.
Hood, housing or frameExact reference, mounting arrangement and the parts it is intended to hold.
Cable entry and sealingCable dimensions and the specified entry, gland, seal or blanking component, as applicable.
Locking and codingRequired lever, latch or coding parts and whether they are included.
Mating sideIts full component references; distinguish existing equipment from parts required in this purchase.

State the number of complete connections separately from the quantity of each component. For example, a request for ten assemblies should not leave the supplier to infer how many contacts or mating halves are required.

3. Read the ordering notes: a Han 1A example

HARTING identifies 09100033306 — Han 1A-3+PE-c-f as a female crimp insert. Its product notes specify separate ordering of crimp contacts and the locking lever. They also identify separately ordered sealing or enclosure components for an IP65 configuration. See the exact HARTING product record.

This is a reference-specific example of why the ordering notes matter. It does not establish the contents, protection rating or compatibility of another Han part. Read the documentation for every selected reference and the completed configuration.

4. Check the configuration before requesting a quote

Compare the proposed pair and its assembly drawing: contact arrangement, orientation, mounting, locking and coding must be resolved together. Keep any unverified mating combination as an open engineering question.

Record the required electrical load, temperature and conductor cross-section. HARTING’s engineering tools include a derating tool that considers these conditions, plus a Han configurator for selecting inserts and cable entries. Its Engineering Data & Services page also provides access to drawings, datasheets and configuration downloads.

Attach the reviewed configuration or drawing revision to the enquiry. If an alternative is permitted, ask for its exact references and differences, then record technical approval before changing the component list. This worksheet supports procurement; the manufacturer’s documentation controls selection and assembly.

5. Copy the connector RFQ brief

Application: [machine / panel / cable connection]
Scope: [replacement part / one side / complete mating pair]
Required number of assemblies: [quantity]
Existing mating-side references: [references / not yet identified]
Component lines: [full HARTING reference | quantity | unit]
Included/separate items: [contacts, locking parts, seals, glands, frames]
Drawing or reviewed configuration: [file and revision]
Required operating conditions: [load, temperature, cable, environment]
